The stage was set on one of the greatest stages of European soccer, the Bernabeu, when Real Madrid hosted Wolfsburg in the last leg of the quarter finals in the Champions League. Zinedine Zidane and his Real had really made it difficult for themselves ahead of the tie, as they went to a shock 2-0 defeat at Volkswagen Arena the odds were far from overly favourable for the Galacticos.

However, when talking to the press ahead of the clash, Zidane went out strongly to suggest that defeat and an exit in the Champions League were nowhere near his teams thoughts. An energetic Zidane could be seen on the touchline throughout most of the game, demanding a showing from his team.

The man that truly responded and took the game by the scruff of the neck was once again Cristiano Ronaldo in a showing which truly demonstrates his extraordinary ability to produce results when it´s really needed. Almost singlehandedly, the Portuguese superstar ruffed up the German visitors as the scored twice within a 2 minute window in the 15th and 17th minute of the first half.

For those watching on from home, who kept their mind and looked to Ronaldo´s scoring records and string of hat-tricks, surely must have thought to themselves that this was the time to place a bet on a hat-trick from the machine of a player.

Throughout a tense second half Real Madrid dominated most of the possession, and there is little to argue against the amount of chances the Spanish giants produced. With chances coming from both Bale, Benzema (before his substitution), and Jese at end of the match, the score could have been far worse looking for the visitors by the end of the evening.

Never the less, the man who started the goal-galore finished it himself. Crowning the evening for all of Madrid with a slightly lucky free-kick that went through the wall and went behind the Wolfsburg goalkeeper Benaglio. The Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos, was to no surprised in ecstatic when meeting the press and in due-diligence crowned the Real talisman Ronaldo as surely to have demonstrated that he is the best in the world.

Having had a questionable start to the season, Ronaldo has, it would seem, manifested a scoring form out of this world from sheer will-power and skill as he continues to demolish scoring records in both Spain and Europe this season.

Considering the scintillating form of the forward he is as self-written in any starting eleven that it should be self-evident that he is to score again in the coming European games. It should be as simple as picking a team to bet on in the semi-finals, as it is to for any betting man to place his money on Ronaldo.

Zidane can lower his shoulders and look forward to seeing the draw and learning who they are to face in the semi-finals knowing that, though further tinkering with the team might be needed, he has players that actively take responsibility on the pitch and are prepared to beat any odds after he himself has given his final instructions.
